Sample Amount
Submit 1 quart of soil per soil test.
How to Collect Your Sample
Using a soil probe, spade, or trowel and a clean plastic pail, collect samples in a zigzag pattern across a uniform area.
Take 15–20 subsamples to ensure the soil represents the area being tested.
- Sampling Depths
- Field soils: 8 inches
- Garden soils: 6–8 inches
- Lawns: 3 inches below the turf
Preparing the Sample
Combine all subsamples in the plastic pail and mix thoroughly.
Fill a soil sample box or bag with the mixed soil, or package approximately 1 quart.
Completing and Submitting
Complete the form below with your farm information. Indicate whether you are organic and select the tests you would like performed.
Label each sample bag with its location.
Submit your sample(s), the completed form, and a check payable to Morgan Composting.

The Solvita Soil Test will tell you if the biology in your soil is active and if it’s enough to convert nutrients for your plants by measuring the CO2 and/or estimated N release from soil.
Depending on the time of year, your soil test results are usually ready within 7–14 business days.
Once your test is processed, we’ll review the results with you and discuss practical recommendations. If any issues are found, you’ll receive a clear, actionable plan to improve your soil and grow healthy, productive crops.
